‘Three little birds’ nominated for Young Swan-price

‘Three little birds’ has been nominated for the Young Swan Dance Production 2025. This theatre and dance performance is an idea by Giorgio Costa and made under the banner of Lloydscompany. The tour was due to end in May 2025, but has already been extended due to its success. Dancers Giorgio Costa, Remses Rafaela and Pom Arnold have now enchanted children 44 times with their the hip-hop and breakdance, acrobatics, fantasy and play.

Costa, choreographer of and dancer in ‘Three little birds’, is delighted. “Five years ago, I heard about the existence of this award. In every production I danced in after that, I hoped I would win it. I manifested this at the beginning of this year for ‘Little, little bird’. And now I have been nominated! Not for someone else’s choreography, but for my own! That this one is seen like this… I am honoured.”

The Young Swan Dance Production The Young Swan Dance Production is part of the VSCD Dance Awards. These are awarded annually to the best dancers and dance productions in the Netherlands during the Dutch Dance Days. The presentation of the Swans takes place during the festival the Nederlandse Dansdagen in Theater aan het Vrijthof, Maastricht. This year’s Gala van de Nederlandse Dansdagen will be on Friday 3 October 2025. The winners will receive a bronze sculpture made by choreographer and visual artist Toer van Schayk.

Three little birdsIn a show full of tricks, hip-hop and breakdance, acrobatics and play, the audience goes on an adventure with two little brothers. One hot day, they get to camp in their parents’ backyard, which turns into a huge forest in their imagination. Once night falls, the brothers hear strange noises and meet a strange new friend…

‘Three little birds’ is about a boy who wants to be a bird and gets support from unexpected quarters. In this way, the performance tells about friendship and believing in what you can be.

 Rotterdam rapper U-Niq wrote the refrain “Klein, klein vogeltje” (Little, little bird) especially for this show, based on the classic “Klein, klein jongetje” (Little, little boy). Children, in turn, enthusiastically sang that song.

The show will play at festivals such as the Boulevard theatre festival and De Betovering festival and in several theatres this summer and autumn. See the whole playlist at www.lloydscompany.nl/agenda. After that, the show will return to theatres in February to April 2027.

About the makers ‘Three little birds’ is an idea by choreographer and dancer Giorgio Costa. He has worked with artists such as Broederliefde, Maan, Jandino and Glennis Grace. He was also artistic director of the MBO Albeda Dance College and was named Teacher of the Year in 2019.

In ‘Little, little bird’, Giorgio joins forces with his dance partners from the very beginning: Pom Arnold and Remses Rafaela. The trio started their dance career together in the breakdance formation Groove Kings, with which they reached the finals of Holland’s Got Talent and Battle of the Year, among others.

Pom Arnold toured the world with Cirque du Soleil and performed in productions by Alida Dors, Ish, and previous performances by Lloydscompany. Remses Rafaela has performed in shows by Isabelle Beernaert and BBOY by Maas, among others. He recently created the children’s performance Wijzer.

Giorgio and the performers create the show with coaching and under the Lloydscompany banner.
