You’ve probably seen them on Instagram and YouTube with their sleek and energetic choreography: the sisters Norah, Yarah and Rosa. On 30 May, they’ll be performing at the Munttheater alongside three other dance acts selected by Lloyd Marengo.

With their love of dance and funk and hip-hop music, and their successful platform ‘Let It Happen’, these girls have inspired countless young dancers around the world. Now they are bringing their exuberant energy and talent to the theatre, where they are showcasing a different side to their dancing.

Hip-hop legend Lloyd Marengo is coaching these dazzling talents as they create a brand-new showcase. They will perform it for the first time at Lloydscompany Presents on 30 May at the Munttheater in Weert. For this biannual event, leading choreographer Lloyd Marengo (SYTYCD, Gouden Zwaan 2022) selects and coaches up-and-coming and established dancers. They will showcase their most powerful performances across a range of styles. The performances will be linked together by the energetic Giorgio Costa.

W.I.P LAB 2025 presents: The Soul of Dominique

This evening, you can also enjoy ‘The Soul of Dominique’ by W.I.P LAB. This performance shows what it feels like to be completely in the moment and in a state of ecstasy. All your senses will be stimulated by five dancers: Mia Bourhis, Ivan Tocchetti, Björn Bakker, Kseniia Serykh and Lulu Verstegen.

‘The Soul of Dominique’ offers hope, something that choreographers Robin Kroes and Remy Tilburg are always seeking. Through the IID Company’s W.I.P. LAB platform, these choreographers mentor recently graduated dancers as they enter the professional world. This annual programme guides them in critically examining habits and established dance practices, whilst exploring new artistic possibilities. ‘The Soul of Dominique’ was created in collaboration with Lugar Futuro Festival & Dansateliers.

Soraya, Kenji and Brohlin

This is followed by an exploration of closeness in a duet by Soraya Groznik and Kenji Hendrik. In this piece, these multi-talented dancers explore questions such as: how close can you let each other get? What brings people closer together? And how do you open yourself up to getting closer to one another? These regular dance partners are accompanied by the inspiring and poignant words of spoken word artist Brohlin. This gives rise to new movements and energies.

Soraya graduated from the Dance Academy and founded the dance school ‘de Movement’. Kenji developed his skills into those of a well-known breakdancer without taking many lessons. He founded his own Roermond-based crew, Rawthentic Crew, and secured one of the sixteen spots on the Red Bull BC One Holland Cypher. They have performed at various festivals, for government bodies, in music videos and in the theatre. They are currently touring with their new show Zeg Maar, which explores the influence of social media.

They have previously collaborated with Brohlin on his music video and for the interdisciplinary production Binnenplaats. Brohlin Coumans writes his own rap songs and has performed them at events including the Limburg Festival and NXT TXT organised by Huis voor de Kunsten Limburg.

Japanese street dance by Fresh Seiji and Kae The Funk

The evening is rounded off by the Japanese duo Fresh Seiji and Kae The Funk. After 20 years of competing, touring and teaching, these dancers are internationally renowned as the very symbol of Japanese street dance culture. From Europe, they build a bridge to this cultural heritage and this modern form of artistic expression.

Their duet immerses you in the spirit of Japanese street dance, with locking as its foundation. Seiji and Kae bring dance and music together through their sense of musicality, deep understanding of rhythms and spot-on timing. In this dialogue, the dancers move in sync and with subtlety, yet with refined precision on stage. Seiji and Kae dance individually as well as as a unit, ensuring plenty of variety.
