LLOYDSCOMPANY
Lloydscompany connects hip hop and theatre. We create dance productions and mentor emerging artists. With one foot in the underground battle scene and the other on the theatre floor, Lloydscompany opens doors for urban dancers and artists.
Hip hop isn't just for the theatre. Battles and jams, that's where it happens. By deliberately entering the various worlds, Lloydscompany stays up to date with what is happening in the hip hop scene and beyond. This social context is the inspiration for our performances, with which we have achieved national and international success: Father Father, Sribi Switi, Unbreakable and Klein, klein vogeltje.
In addition to creating its own productions, Lloydscompany mentors new creators from the urban scene. We focus not only on the artistic process, but also on the business and production sides of the profession, which are just as crucial.

LLOYD MARENGO
Lloydscompany was founded by choreographer and hip-hop legend Lloyd Marengo. He is deeply rooted in the hip-hop genre, but is innovative and has developed his own dance language. He has the remarkable gift of transforming the powerful and fast dance language of b-boys into an extremely controlled and vulnerable form of dance theatre. As a seasoned b-boy and popper, Lloyd experiments with these styles with a striking penchant for precision and control. He dissects breakdance without making it artificial, resulting in power and intimacy.
For years, Marengo has been fighting for the recognition of hip hop and urban arts in the established art world. With his performances, he gives a voice to the underdog. This fits in with our mission to contribute to a more equal world. Lloyd's work is characterised by a clear social undertone and a narrative, conceptual character. In this way, he aims to connect hip hop and theatre.
In hip hop dance, everyone is equal. It's all about skills; that's the only thing you're judged on. It's about what you add as a dancer, how you enrich the culture.
