'Three Little Birds' nominated for the Young Swan Award

'Three Little Birds' has been nominated for the Young Swan Dance Production 2025. This theatre and dance performance is an idea by Giorgio Costa and was created under the banner of Lloydscompany. The tour was scheduled to end in May 2025, but has already been extended due to its success. Dancers Giorgio Costa, Remses Rafaela, and Pom Arnold have now enchanted children 44 times with their hip-hop and breakdance, acrobatics, imagination, and play.

Costa, choreographer of and dancer in 'Three Little Birds', is overjoyed. Five years ago, I heard about the existence of this award. In every production I danced in after that, I hoped I would win him over. I manifested this for 'Little, little bird' at the beginning of this year. And now I'm nominated! Not for someone else's choreography, but for my own! That this is so appreciated... I feel honoured.

DE YOUNG SWAN DANCE PRODUCTION

The De Young Swan Dance Production is part of the VSCD Dance Awards. These are awarded annually to the best dancers and dance productions in the Netherlands during the Dutch Dance Days. The Swans will be awarded during the Dutch Dance Festival at Theatre aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. The Gala of the Dutch Dance Days is on Friday, October 3, 2025, this year. The winners will receive a bronze sculpture created by choreographer and visual artist Toer van Schayk.

THREE LITTLE BIRDS

In a performance full of tricks, hip-hop and breakdance, acrobatics and acting, the audience goes on an adventure with two little brothers. On a warm day, they are allowed to camp in their parents' backyard, which in their imagination transforms into a vast forest. As evening falls, the brothers hear strange noises and meet a strange new friend...

'Three Little Birds' is about a boy who wants to be a bird and receives support from an unexpected source. In this way, the performance tells over vriendschap en geloven in wat je kunt worden.

Rotterdam rapper U-Niq wrote the chorus 'Three Little Birds' specifically for this performance, based on the classic 'Klein, klein jongetje'. The children, in turn, enthusiastically sang along to that song.

The performance can be seen this summer and autumn at festivals such as the Boulevard Theatre Festival and the Enchantment Festival, and in various theatres. View the full playlist at www.lloydscompany.nl/agenda. After that, the show will return to theatres from February to April 2027.
