Meet the maker: Yentl Kollau

Yentl Kollau is participating in the Urban Talents program of the Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie under the guidance of Lloydscompany.

For this project, she is delving into the possibilities offered by dance and film, which is why she travelled to Los Angeles last month. Here, she received coaching from Jaja Vankova and Kid Boogie and created videos that she will present at the end of her program.

Yentl on her stay in Los Angeles:

It was a special trip with many beautiful and valuable experiences. During my stay in Los Angeles, I had several coaching sessions with Jaja Vankova and Kidboogie. The focus here was on popping, robot, and animation. We then got to work with both the techniques and styles, as well as its culture and history.

In these sessions, I was able to ask a lot of questions. And talking to them about steps I could and would like to take as a creative in the short and long term."

Besides these one-on-one sessions, I was able to train with students from Kidboogie and other dancers in LA. The other days I was there filming for the dance videos I'll be releasing this summer."

All in all, that allowed me to learn a lot and gather valuable information in a short amount of time.
