Meet the creator: Redouan Hergelink

Thanks to Lloydscompany, I had the opportunity to participate in the making process. I feel welcome at Lloydscompany, I'm allowed to stumble in my process, and I'm still respected for who I am.”

Redouan Hergelink started as a 15-year-old boy as a b-boy and then developed into an all-round dancer at the Albeda Dance College. Now he specialises in fusing different styles and then making them his own. He shone in the Ultimate Dance Battle (TV), Isabelle Beanart (tour), So You Think You Can Dance (TV & tour), Sky the musical, and Beauty and the Beast (tour). Furthermore, he has given workshops in European countries such as Germany and Asian countries such as China.

"I almost wanted to give up this path; I had lost my enjoyment. Thanks to Lloydscompany, I had the opportunity to participate in the making process. I feel welcome at Lloydscompany, I'm allowed to stumble in my process, and I'm still respected for who I am. This brought my joy in dancing back. My love for dance lies in the freedom of creation and the courage to confront the questions within me.

DIEGO

Redouan conducted research on making his own film under the guidance of Lloydscompany. From that came Diego, a short hybrid dance and animated film, which explores dark, psychological

themes interwoven with surreal elements.

In the film, we follow Diego, a

a man trapped in a downward spiral of depression and despair. To escaping his feelings, he creates a fantasy world where he Lucy meet. Lucy, a dark, shadowy being with white eyes, initially seems to alleviate his concerns. But appearances can be deceiving: Lucy doesn't have good intentions. What begins as an escape quickly turns into a dangerous addiction that pulls Diego further and further into the abyss.
