Lloydscompany Presents + Paneltalk

Ball movements as an art form by freestyler Guido and housing and whacking by Vanildo: on Thursday, June 1st, Lloydscompany will once again present new makers, as they do every six months. Lloyds Presents takes place at Theatre Rotterdam and is part of Dance Week 2023. Prior to the presentations/performances, there will be a panel discussion.

ABOUT LLOYDSCOMPANY PRESENTS

Choreographer Lloyd Marengo has coached many emerging artists in recent years. During LC Presents, we put these new creators in the spotlight. We will be showcasing various performances by artists including: Vanildo Varela, Guido van Moorselaar (Freestyler Guido). An interesting evening with different styles.

FREESTYLER GUIDO – WATER

The first touch of the ball changed Guido's life; freestyle football became his passion. His love for the ball became a way for him to express himself. During the performance, Freestyler Guido will take you into his world and demonstrate his special connection with the ball. Here, he shows his movements and wants to emphasise them as an art form. All of this presented to the soothing piano sounds of "Water" by Michiel Borstlap.

Vanildo Varela – Mind Blank

Vanildo presents his piece 'Mind Off', in which he explores freedom within dance using the club dance styles of House dance and Wacking.

FREE: PANEL DISCUSSION

A combination of a panel discussion and a community. For many dancers from the urban/hip-hop scene, it feels like a gap, that space between the training studio and the theatre. How do you get into the theatre? How can you investigate whether theatre is the place you ultimately want to grow into? And how can you go international? We want to offer this group a safety net. During the panel discussion, we want to build a bridge between the 'researching group' and those who have long outgrown the initial stage and have established a strong position in the theatre world. Beforehand, we will collect questions from the 'research group'; these questions will be the common thread for the panel discussion.

Extra: After the panel discussion, snacks will be available for those who attended.

Sign up to attend the panel discussion!

Panellists: Lloyd Marengo, John Agesilas (Summer Dance Forever & Foundation), Nedda Sou (dancer, DJ, and maker), Dalton Jansen (BlackBirds), Lisa Reinheimer (Dansateliers).
