In 2022 and 2023, Lloydscompany guided Wennah Wilkers a trajectory funded by Fonds Podiumkunsten. Therefore, she created two performances: Cypher and Our House.

CYPHER

In this first half year, Wennah has worked on the performance Cypher. A cypher is a form of dancing together in a circle that originates from the underground dance world. The dancers alternately go to the middle to dance a solo or together. Cypher is a hypnotic trans experience in which you are sucked into the shared feeling of freedom and ecstasy. Wennah Wilkers presented Cypher at the Over 't IJ Festival in Amsterdam in July 2022.

For a week, Wennah conducted research with three young dancers for her performance Cypher in the NDSM Theater. The starting point was a research question: how can I let the audience experience the feeling of a cypher?

OUR HOUSE

The second performance is a larger production in which Wennah will intensively enter into the process with dancers from the X-Gen Crew according to the Lloydscompany method.

Our House is an impressive ode to housedance, performed by an international cast of exceptional dancers. This dynamic dance style, known for its energetic footwork, cyphers and sense of togetherness, is central to the performance.

An industrial, underground and community atmosphere is created, inviting the audience to participate in the sense of togetherness and the meditative state of Our House. The music, specially created for Our House by British producer Matt Benyayer (UK), contributes to the industrial, underground atmosphere that the performance breathes.

Our House is performed at Summer Dance Forever in 2023 and in Bellevue in Amsterdam in 2205.
