LC Presents treats you to the following performances:
Our House by Wennah Wilkers
Our House is an impressive ode to Housedance, performed by an international cast of exceptional dancers. This dynamic style of dance, known for its energetic footwork, cyphers and sense of togetherness, is at the heart of the performance. An industrial, underground and community atmosphere is created, inviting the audience to participate in the sense of belonging and meditative state of Our House.
Wennah Wilkers (born 1992 in Tarlac City, Philippines) is a Dutch Filipino dancer and choreographer raised in Amsterdam. She is known for her unique style in which she effortlessly interweaves contemporary and urban dance.
Ctrl+Z by Miila Kaarina
Ctrl+Z is a negotiation with shame, a constant struggle between the urge to maintain control and the body fighting its own liberation. On a stage strewn with red buckets – symbols of fear, refuge and chaos – shame takes physical form. Each bucket contains fragments of struggle and safety, marking a carefully constructed but fragile path in the search for order.
Venla Keskinen, also known as Miila Kaarina, is a dancer, maker and teacher with a background in architecture from Aalto University in Helsinki. A self-taught dancer, she found her base and community in voguing in 2014 and has since distinguished herself as a new way-voguer within the European ballroom scene. Previously a member of the Legendary House of Prodigy and the Kiki House of Angels, Miila is known for the precision, style, grace and elegance she brings to the floor.
Bastard by Ibrah Jackson
Bastard is a raw, emotional journey through the complexities of masculinity, fatherhood and absence. Through dance and physical theater, the performance explores the impact of absent fathers on men as they age. It confronts the emptiness this absence leaves and the inherited memories that shape their identity.
Ibrah is a young choreographer with Roots in Uganda. Together with three young dancers (Juan Jose Markes, Angel Felix and Sirak Solomoon Areguy), he created the short performance Until the Quiet Comes, about the experiences of a young man of color, under the title Create4. Ibrah is a very talented creator who is not only in the field of dance, but also in the field of visuals and film.
The dance film Diego by Redouan Hergelink
Diego is a hybrid dance and animation film of about 7 minutes that interweaves dark, psychological themes with surrealistic elements. In the film, we follow Diego, a man stuck in a downward spiral of depression and despair. To escape his feelings, he creates a fantasy world, where he meets Lucy. Lucy, a dark, shadowy creature with white eyes, seems at first to ease his worries. But appearances are deceptive: Lucy does not have good intentions. What begins as an escape soon turns into a dangerous addiction that pulls Diego further and further into the abyss.
Redouan Hergelink began his dance journey as a 15-year-old b-boy and has since walked an impressive path. At the Albeda Dance College he developed into a versatile dancer, with an all-round dance experience that took him to the big stage. He shined in Ultimate Dance Battle (TV), Isabelle Beernaert’s tour, So You Think You Can Dance (TV & tour), Sky the Musical, and Beauty and the Beast (tour), among others.
